10 September • Caregivers' Day

Honouring the Silent Strength Behind Recovery

Every year on 10th September, SAA observes Caregivers’ Day on the birth anniversary of founder Dr. Jagannath Wani — himself a caregiver who transformed personal struggle into a movement of compassion, dignity and support for families living with mental illness.

The day is dedicated to recognising the emotional resilience, patience and lifelong commitment of caregivers who support their loved ones through recovery journeys that are often unseen by society.

Why Caregivers’ Day Matters

Caregivers are often the emotional, financial and social backbone for persons living with mental illness. This day creates awareness about their challenges while building a culture of empathy, support and community care.

01

Recognition

Acknowledging the invisible emotional labour and sacrifices made by caregivers every single day.

02

Support & Guidance

Bringing together mental health experts, families and support groups for meaningful discussions and learning.

03

Community Togetherness

Creating safe spaces where caregivers can share experiences, reduce isolation and find collective strength.

“In a field where caregivers are often invisible, no family caregiver should navigate mental illness alone.
